The UPR. Beyond Reporting. Transformational changes on the ground

[01/06/2022] Research covering best practices implemented by States under review during the third cycle of the UPR up to its 39th session. The methodological approach of this report has been both quantitative and qualitative. The information collection strategy consisted of two main channels: 1. Office work, and, 2. Application of semi-structured interviews with key actors.

The Civil Society Compendium. A comprehensive guide for Civil Society Organizations engaging in the Universal Periodic

[26/11/2021] This compendium is intended to provide detailed guidance to civil society actors involved in the third cycle of the universal periodic review. The guide is structured in four parts. Part One offers a brief introduction to the UPR. Part Two then provides an updated guide offering guidance to civil society on how to optimize their participation in the UPR. Part Three offers advice and best practice examples for strengthening national CSO coalitions, specifically in relation to the UPR. Finally, Part Four provides non-state actors participating in the UPR with a set of useful resources to exercise such participation.

A Guide for Recommending States at the UPR.

[01/11/2020] This document is intended to serve as a complete guide for the representatives of the States that make the recommendations. At the same time, this guide serves as an introduction to the UPR and as a reference throughout the entire process. It describes how such States can participate throughout the process, identifies good practices that tend to ensure effective engagement with the UPR mechanism, and provides resources for obtaining additional information.

It has been developed for all children from 12 to 17 years old. It can also be used by anyone who wants to participate in the UPR, including young children.
